Celebrating Ugly Pets

A picture post for ugly or dressed-up pets. If your pet is ugly and you are proud of it or if your pet just looks good in a costume, send me a picture at MundaneFotos@yahoo.com or post a picture to your blog and leave me a comment. Actually, not all the animals here are ugly. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." And the narratives are not always 100% accurate. Sometimes they're not 1% accurate, but I hope you enjoy them.

Pooper Scooper Trouper

Woman in a pink furry costume riding a bicycle that looks like a pink dog. St. Louis has some pretty tough pooper scooper laws.

This lady had to dress up like this as punishment for not being a responsible pet owner.

If your pet does his duty, you do yours!

Oscar Material

Black Lab with smiling and frowning masks hanging on his side. Those faces on my back mean I'm a thespian, you know an actor.

You don't believe me?

The truth is I'm actually a cat.

White Tie and Tires

Black dog in tux with white collar, white cuffs on front paws and black wall tires on the carriage that replaces his paralyzed back legs. If you think I look sharp now, just wait until next week when I get my new white-wall tires!

I Need A Tailor

Dog in dragon costume that looks a little tight in the inseam. Either I'm putting on weight or this costume is not a size 2.

I think I'm starting to chafe.

Top Hat and Tails

Dog in red tux, with top hat, white tie and tails, three.

I just got an invitation through the mails:
Your presence requested this evening, its formal
A top hat, a white tie and tails
Nothing now could take the wind out of my sails
Because I'm invited to step out this evening
With top hat, white tie and tails

I'm puttin' on my top hat
Tyin' up my white tie
Brushin' off my tails

I'm dudein' up my shirt front
Puttin' in the shirt studs
Polishin' my nails

I'm steppin out, my dear
To breathe an atmosphere that simply reeks with class
And I trust that you'll excuse my dust when I step on the gas

No Costume Needed

Dog in minimalist costume. "OK, so my costume isn't too hot, but I didn't want anything that would hide my magnificence."

Jester Needs a Joke

Saint Bernard with a court jester's collar. I'm supposed to make people laugh, but my heart's just not in it today. Do you know any good cat jokes?

Why Walk When You Can Ride

The dog in the stroller is Mensch (of blue tongue fame).

Mensch only has three legs, so when he gets tired he rides in the stroller until he gets his strength back. At least that's the excuse he gives. I think he just likes being pushed around.

His friends wouldn't give me their names. I'm not sure why.

Thanks for the picture, Cindy.

No Disrespect Intended

Mensch with his blue tongueThis is Mensch.

When asked if he would mind having his picture taken, this is how he responded. Actually, I have a younger sister who used to respond the same way.

And no, he hasn't been eating grape popsicles. His tongue always looks blue and he is quite proud of it.

Thanks for the picture Cindy.

No Smoking Allowed

Dante, 6-month old Miniature Schnauzer with a cigar in its mouthThis is Dante, a 6-month old Miniature Schnauzer. Smoking is not good for anyone, but certainly 6 months old is too young to start. Especially when you have a mustache that could be a fire hazard.

Brett, Dante's friend, says it is OK because Dante doesn't know how to use a lighter.

Thanks for the picture Brett.

Not Your Ordinary Hot Dog

Daschund in Hot Dog Bun costumeThis is Frank E. Footer. If he looks a little down its because his girl friend just left him for another dog who had more relish.

Thanks for the picture Rose Ann.

Beauty Is Only Skin Deep

Friendly, but not handsome, dog."I may not look like Lassie, but my Mom says I'm handsome and I have a good personality."

King Piddles

Dog with crown on his head wearing regal clothesYou would think this dog's name would be King or Monarch or Sir Richard, but actually it is Piddles. I think it had something to do with his early potty training.

This Is So Not Fair

"First I have to wear a silly costume. Then I have to march in a parade with a bunch of mongrels. Then you have the audacity to put my picture on a blog of ugly pets!"

"I am way too cute for all of this. This is so not fair."

No Pictures, Please!

Dog with sweatshirt on backwardsYou know what this dog is thinking.

"I'm so embarassed. They put this sweatshirt on backwards. Now how am I supposed to get anything out of these pockets? Please don't take my picture! If my friends see me like this I'll never live it down."

Smile When You Say That, Pardner

As I was taking this picture, a cat just off to our right started making smart remarks about this dog's pink outfit. I think I also heard some comment about his "darling pink shoes".

Now everyone knows that dogs are much smarter than cats. How else can you explain a cat giving a dog this big trouble about his outfit? But then again, you don't see cats walking around dressed like this.

Little Pastel Poodle

Little poodle dog dyed in pastel colors with jester's collarThis just looks like a fun dog. I wonder how hard it is to change colors or is he stuck looking like this for a few months?
